Nearly 65 years of Serving Christ by Serving others at Perry Lutheran Homes
- 1869 - Perry, IA was founded, grew, and needed a hospital. Charitable donations and fundraising efforts by Alpha Circle of the King's Daughters made construction possible.
- 1914 - In April, the King's Daughter's hospital opened on Willis Avenue offering many excellent services.
- 1956 - Dallas County Hospital began serving the community leaving the building and property on Willis Avenue available.
- 1956 - Perry Lutheran Homes was established by the Lutheran Home for the Aged Association to serve those in the community.
- 1966 & 1973 - Expansion through an addition and East wing was needed at PLH to continue providing quality care.
- 1978 - The old hospital was torn down leaving a parking lot in its place.
- 1999 - The Lutheran Home for the Aged Association divided into two separate associations - East and West. The West Association assumed ownership and work closely with Iowa District West. Nine rooms were converted to Assisted Living at this time.
- 2013 - Spring Valley campus, a beautifully laid out and recently constructed Assisted Living community, was acquired by Perry Lutheran Homes.
- 2013 - St. James mid-stage memory care wing renovation, focusing on life-skills environmental stimulation, was completed late in the year and received the 2014 award for Best Innovation in Aging Services & Housing.
- 2015 - St. John's advanced-stage memory care wing renovation, focusing on a sensory-connected environment, was completed and received the 2015 award for Best Innovation in Aging Services & Housing.
- After lower-level renovations took place, Perry Lutheran Homes King's Gardens campus became home of Acorns & Oaks Intergenerational childcare offering endless joy, connection, and benefits to both residents and children alike.
- 2018 - Perry Lutheran Homes introduces new logo to communicate both a rich history and a bold future for Serving Christ by Serving Others in Perry, Iowa and beyond.
- 2018 - LeadingAge Iowa awards Perry Lutheran Homes with the prestigious LeadingEdge Care & Services Award for providing meaning, purpose and value to the lives of residents through its Meaningful Mission Projects Program.
- 2019 - Perry Lutheran Homes, together with Lutheran Family Service and Ministry in Mission, help open and admit the first residents to the Jacmel Lutheran Home in Jacmel, Haiti.
- 2019 - Perry Lutheran Homes receives the 2019 Public Trust Award for leading the way in caring for all elder citizens in the community of Perry and beyond through the StepUp (Serving Together our Elders with Passion) Movement.
- 2020 - Newly remodeled, St. Luke's Private Suites, are open bringing individuals the best that rehabilitation therapy has to offer. These spacious and fully-furnished private suites offer Rehabilitative Therapy clients amenities helpful for recovery with more home-like accommodations such as private, in-room showers.
- 2020 - Perry Lutheran Homes is named one of the Best Memory Care Communities in the Des Moines area by MemoryCare.com
- 2020 - Rowley Masonic Community, a beautiful and expansive Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), was acquired by Perry Lutheran Homes and renamed Eden Acres Campus. Perry Lutheran Homes Willis Campus was renamed King's Gardens Campus.
